Pace Week 5

This week's PACE activity was a relaxing one.

Students visit to our university and join us for PACE activity in our campus. We arrived at 1pm to enjoy the complimentary lunch provided by our school at Temptation. The food provided was decent with rice, vegetarian chicken and sauce. I had some talk with other groups of PACE and we talked and shared about our experiences throughout this activity. Learnt a lot from the conversations and it was really interesting to listen different experiences from different people.

After we finished our lunch, we are going to classroom to gather up with your mentee. This time X-space classroom was used. It is good because we are able to sit together in a group and it is much better and practical to interact with each others.

We were asked to fill in our comments for our mentees. My mentee was a shy boy so I would like to write some motivated words for him. I encouraged him to follow his dream and never give up to his studies despite he thinks that study is really a difficult task for him.

We started the class by playing a game. We were asked to build a tower with spaghetti. It was interesting because I never know that we are able to build up tower with a spaghetti which I used to eat in the restaurant. This game requires lots of creativity and imaginations. We figured out our own tower and the outcomes was quite promising.

One of the group was really impressive by thinking out of the box. They built really tall tower by hanging on the ceiling of the classroom. It is a bit unfair but I was really impressed with their creativity and efforts.

Next, we played hide and seek with the students. The classroom's environment was really good and joyful as everyone were really enjoyed the game. The game's duration was about 20 minutes and our university's student and high school students participated in this activity.

After the hide and seek session. We presented our feedback in the class to share with the class what our mentee has learned from us. Most of them were really appreciate our efforts and we are really proud to have them as our part of PACE memories. It was one of the most touching sessions in this course.

Closing ceremony was done after that. And it is the end of the day.

PACE Week 4

I know that I shouldn't write this journal because I didn't attend the weekly activity of this week.

It was really frustrating because I would like to interact more with my mentee because I was informed that his exam is coming soon.

However, I would like to take this opportunity to write about why did I missed the weekly PACE activity.

I was having my vacation during the semester break the week before PACE week 4 in Japan. Initially my holiday was planned to starts from 17th October to 27th October. I had a great time over there and really inspired by the country.

Unfortunately, I missed my return flight on 27th October and I couldn't generate enough cash for my alternate return ticket purchase. My credit card has reached its limit and I have to wait for my parents to transfer sufficient amount to Japan in order for me to book another ticket. Thus, it caused me to return on the Friday on that week and it affects my presentation on Thursday for PACE activity.

I sincerely apologize for absentism which may caused inconvenience for my group mates, lecturer, mentee and whoever involved. Thanks for understanding about my situation.

PACE WEEK 3

Greetings!

It was week 3 of our community service. This week we did our activities in our university's classroom instead of going to SMK Methodist Sentul.

We were planning for the games and ideas for our upcoming weeks. Before we started everything, we were given a box of sandwich and also a cup of tea or coffee. I have chosen tea as my beverage. Nothing much special about it because we have been served food like this past few weeks.

We were allocated to sit with our groupmates in order for us to discuss activities. Initially my group mate was Yvonne and Kitt. But today we welcomed our new member, Lucas for his addition into the group.

Lucas is really good in communicating with everyone and his ideas are really brilliant. I am really happy to have him as my group mate because he is a really cheerful and friendly guy to work with.

Overall, we generated some ideas includes of card games and mafia. We also provide our ideas to the rest of the class. Everyone were discussing in a very fun and joyful atmosphere and really participate into it.

After we discussed about the activity, the class was dismissed and we are going to prepare to enjoy our mid term break!
